Suzy's Coffee Lounge is one of my favourite Rita Angus paintings. the coffee lounge was a Wellington hangout for the slightly bohemian - Rita often dropped in for coffee. Suzy's was designed by architect Friedrich Eisenhofer - you can see original plans on nzhistory.net.nz
This house, built in 1968 to a Eisenhofer design, is currently for sale in Titahi Bay. If you happen to buy it, can you leave me a note in the comments and let me come visit?
Hmmm - ok area for me, right size, wrong price :-) Don't you love the retro furnishings? I wonder if they ripped out any original built in furniture and what was the original bathroom like?. PLse excuse inane drooling over this fantastic house
ReplyDeleteI went to the open home in the weekend. It looks better in the flesh (okay, wrong noun there - wood and paint, etc). Really a fabulous house and they have done an amazing job at updating the bathrooms and kitchen in the most sympathetic way. Wrong area, right price. I still have a son at uni and he refuses to travel into town to Titahi Bay. I'd be buying on the spot if I could. I'm head-over-heels for this house. At the very least, it has inspired me to find a nice old 60s place in town to do the same makeover. There's one I've seen in Crofton Downs with my name on it...
