Tinkle

So, these holidays I have become rapidly obsessed with Nils Frahm. He's a 30 year-old Berlin based pianist and composer, a modern classical minimalist.

When it comes to music, I don't have the language to describe what I hear, so I am reduced to sense-responses: Frahm's compositions sound, to me, like someone walking around a pitch-dark space, sparking and linking together points of light to create a constellation of hovering pinpricks of light. It sounds to me like he draws perfect shapes with piano notes.

Here's Frahm performing 'Said and Done' in 2010

One of my favourite pieces off the 2011 album, Felt, 'Familiar'

And from his 2012 release Screws, which is available for free download, 'You'
